Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI)

Industry 4.0 is ushering in new production techniques, business models, and technologies that are reshaping the landscape of jobs and production at an unprecedented scale. In order to prepare Philippine industries for this new wave of industrial transformation, the country’s new industrial policy, Inclusive Innovation Industrial Strategy (i3S), highlights the need to embrace new and advanced technologies arising from Industry 4.0  to revitalize the global competitiveness of the Philippine manufacturing sector.

However, planning and executing an Industry 4.0 transformation roadmap requires manufacturers to invest significant resources into various areas such as conducting research, engaging solution providers, running cost-benefit analyses, and monitoring progress of projects. Without the right insights and a strategic plan, this may entail a high level of risk and uncertainty which can be very costly, especially for our small and medium enterprises.

Therefore, DTI has partnered with leading technology companies and global development partners, to scale the adoption of Smart Industry Readiness Index (SIRI) in the Philippines. SIRI, developed by the Singapore Economic Development Board (EDB), is a suite of frameworks and tools to help manufacturers – regardless of size and industry – start, scale, and sustain their manufacturing transformation journeys. It covers three major blocks, namely: Process, Technology, and Organization which are each comprised of pillars and dimensions which are evaluated to generate a holistic Industry 4.0-readiness assessment.

SIRI is now becoming a globally-recognized framework providing solid Industry 4.0 transformation concepts and tools which are useful foundations for future targeted action. Through SIRI, manufacturers will be equipped with the right insights to better navigate their Industry 4.0 journey, namely:

1Assessment of the Industry 4.0-readiness of the company’s production dimensions;
2Benchmarking of the company’s current performance compared to its local and international peers in the industry which have also taken the SIRI Assessment;
3Determination of the prioritized areas for improvement based on their impact, viability, and alignment to the company’s overall growth strategies.

SIRI is just the first step towards Industry 4.0 transformation. Digital transformation is a continuous journey of embracing a culture of innovation in all dimensions of production.
