Mandate

The Bureau of Trade and Industrial Policy Research (BTIPR) is mandated to provide coherent, consistent, and clear trade and industrial policy recommendations in support of the national economic development agenda.

In support of this mandate, BTIPR provides and drafts the Department’s position on trade and industry related key legislations filed in the House of Representatives or Senate of the Philippines. The Bureau provides the whole-of-DTI perspective in analyzing and integrating comments from the different DTI units ranging from consumer protection to industrial development, as well as inputs from affected business and trade organizations to come up with a coherent and balanced position paper.

Moreover, BTIPR prepares and publishes up-to-date and evidence-based Trade and Industry Policy Briefs, Fact Files, Trade and Investment Relations Reports, Trade and Industry Statistics, and other trade and industry related materials which can be used as basis for strategic policy formulation and decision making.

To engage stakeholders, the Bureau also conducts various events such as conferences, summits, and workshops in support of trade and industry related projects and programs.
